How Long Does it Take for Hair to Adjust to a Shampoo Bar?

Maybe you’ve been scared to try shampoo bars because you’ve heard about an adjustment period. Is it true? Will your hair look terrible for weeks while you get accustomed to it?

No! With StarBars, your hair will look amazing from the very first time you use it.

Just because StarBars look like soap, they are definitely not. Soap is made by adding lye to oil. That’s what solidifies the bar, and also what can cause your hair to look greasy or crispy after you use it. Many companies call their soap “natural shampoo” when it is really just soap. Be sure to look at the ingredients in the bar. If there is any wording about saponified oils, lye, or sodium hydroxide then it is soap, not shampoo. If there is a hint about using an apple cider vinegar rinse after you use the bar, it’s soap.

Don’t use soap on your head.

I love bars of soap! Especially handmade soap with amazing ingredients. But I wouldn’t put it on my hair. If you want smooth, shiny hair, you need the proper ingredients and the low pH of shampoo.

StarBars shampoo bars are made with all the best ingredients you would find in a bottle of salon quality shampoo. We use a blend of gentle detergents (no sodium lauryl sulfate, ever), and then add some botanical extracts, light conditioning agents, hair-friendly oils (like argan or jojoba), and cocoa butter. We test to be sure the shampoo is the right pH for your hair. Soap is very alkaline, while StarBars are at the proper pH of your hair.

Whether you have hard water or soft, you should never notice any kind of greasiness or buildup on your hair after using a StarBar.

All StarBars are safe for colored hair.

Your hair should feel lighter, cleaner and softer from the very first time you use your StarBars.
